It's easy today to get convinced that our dogs, that we all, need a lot of things.
Advanced things with premium tech. But quite often the answer to what we need is quite simple, something that feels good, and if we want, looks good.
All you and your dog needs from the day you take them home, (in terms of accessories, that other list is quite long, have fun with that), is a collar, a harness and a leash.
Let's take some of that weight of both of your shoulders.
It's easy to scroll Pinterest and get carried away looking and premium handcrafted leather collars with shiny gold buckles and want them all.
But if you look at us seasoned dog owners (you can easily spot us because we look it) you will see that we almost always come back to durable, easy, comfy collars and leashes.
We simply do not want to have to have a chunky leash in our hands while we are also carrying our morning coffee, keys, phone and the weight of the world.
We also realize how selfish it is to put something bulky and restrictive around the neck of our dogs just because we find it cool.
A collar has a fairly straightforward job, it holds your dogs ID tag and it gives you somewhere to attach a leash. But, here is the thing, your collar and leash can still be high quality, have premium design and look hella cool, while also doing those things.
Lightweight doesn’t have to mean flimsy
There’s sometimes an assumption that heavier automatically means stronger, and it's simply not.
Webbing material is extremely durable, weighs barely nothing and is washable!
Why plastic buckles you might ask, but maybe you never worn a underwire bra.
Metal is unnecessarily heavy and not very comfy, and good quality plastic can be extremely durable while weight close to nothing.
On our recent collar strength test for our M-sized collar, the collar buckle withstood 221.3 kgf before failure, that's some force. *
And hey.. rust what? We all know that dogs get wet, a lot. Which can make metal buckles corrode or rust. Plastic doesn't.
For this type of products it is simply the material choice that makes most sense.
Adding more metal doesn’t automatically make a better collar. Sometimes it just makes a heavier collar and overcomplicates things. And for us, that is not what good design is.
The barely-there approach
When we created PHAFS, the “barely-there” design was always a main feature we never wanted to compromise on, as this is the only thing we use for our own dogs.
And honestly, a leash you can easily twirl around your wrist och shove in your pocket?
That feels like a dog-parent essential.
Our most prominent accessory
So now when we have made our case of why we are so passionate about lightweight design, let's move on to the next problem we often encounter.
Why are there so few nice looking webbing design options out there?
We often get to choose between either the most plain design or the most hysterical when it comes to webbing design.
When we created PHAFS we noticed how we were missing the design we actually want to wear. Designs that actually is treating the leash as the prominent accessory it actually is, something we are bringing with us wherever we go with our dogs.
And just as we often care about the case on our phones or the belt in our pants, our leashes should get the same kind consideration.
The colors we choose for our designs at PHAFS brings that Scandinavian understated, but perfectly balanced between bold and minimal, into the world of dog essentials, and we are so happy about it.
So head on over and check out our latest collection.
Lots of love,
PHAFS
Did you know that PHAFS don't only look good, feel good but also do good?
We donate €1 of each item towards Dog Rescue Organisations in Spain.
