There are a lot of options for dog collars, harnesses and leashes out there, and there is definitely no shortage of cool handcrafted leather designs with metal hardware for those who want them.
However, PHAFS exists because we believe that the best design can look really cool without complicating things, and we will shout it from the rooftops: it's cool to be comfy.
The less your dog feels their collar, and the less you struggle with your leash on your walk, the better. But being comfy doesn't need to be boring or plain. It can be subtle but still speak volumes, and for us, that is good design.
When I brought home Penny and was looking for a collar and leash that would be suitable for her, I was very conscious of her little, growing and sensitive neck.
I had purchased some puppy books and read that collars and leashes should be as lightweight as possible and not restrict them in any way when they play, live and sleep.
I then bought her first lightweight webbing collar, and little did I know that she would be wearing that exact collar for the next four years.
It just didn’t make any sense to put something heavy around her neck just because I thought it looked cool. I couldn’t imagine forcing her to sleep, play and essentially live with heavy buckles or stiff leather around her neck every day.
However, as someone who has always loved design (fashion, interior, graphic, you name it), I did want something that was not plain and boring, but something that spoke a bit about Penny and my personality, while at the same time not being something hysterical.
With my Swedish roots, the combination of boldness and minimalism has been in my DNA all my life. So it all just made perfect sense when I decided to create PHAFS. And I'm so proud of what it has become. Functional, genuine, durable, confident and cool.
Something I can genuinely stand for, and that I know I will use forever.
I am proud to bring the coolest addition to the world of webbing-based dog accessories and encourage more dog owners to avoid putting heavy, uncomfortable collars on their dogs or having to handle heavy, rigid leashes on their walks.
It's simply cool to be comfy, and we will always stand by that.
Lots of love x
